UNICEF Vietnam continues to support Da Nang in children's care and education

During the reception, Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu highly appreciated UNICEF Vietnam's support for children's care, education, and protection in Da Nang City. A highlight is the technical assistance project for Da Nang, a child-friendly city for the 2023-2026 period. It is funded by UNICEF Vietnam’s non-refundable ODA grant of approximately US$1.83 million.

The Vice Chairman expressed his hope that UNICEF Vietnam would maintain interest in, partner with, and strengthen cooperation with the city in the time ahead.

This includes, in particular, the development of cooperative programmes and projects for the 2026-2030 period that align with the city's scale, characteristics, and practical needs.

Da Nang leader also requested that UNICEF Vietnam continue to support the city in the maintenance, refinement, and replication of youth-led models and initiatives, as well as efforts to enhance children's protection effectiveness. At the same time, Da Nang hoped to receive more UNICEF Vietnam’s technical assistance and international experiences to connect the city with aid sources and partner organizations.

The city pledged to continue directing local government departments, agencies to coordinate closely with UNICEF and to create the most favorable conditions for the effective and sustainable projects.

For her part, Ms. Anjanette Saguisag, OIC Representative, UNICEF Vietnam, evaluated the positive results achieved in the recent technical assistance project. She noted that UNICEF Vietnam would mobilize resources from partners to continue implementing its project in Da Nang over the next two years (2027-2028).

UNICEF Vietnam committed to continuously partner with and support the city in children's care and education, as well as children's rights. This thereby ensures local children have opportunities for comprehensive development.
