(QNO) - Folk performing arts from Quang Nam are gradually asserting their place in local tourism offerings. This summer’s cultural programs are expected to enliven the city’s vibrant night scenes.

Hoi An continues to blend heritage with modern creativity, using performances like bai choi, Quang Nam folk songs, and other traditional arts to offer meaningful cultural experiences.

Currently, Hoi An Traditional Art Performance Theatre involves around 40 artists who regularly perform at local and external events. Folk performances take place daily in the ancient town, with 3 to 4 shows during the day and open-air programs at night.

Notably, the city has launched a “perform-and-teach” model, offering outdoor classes guided by the center’s staff. Local students attend regularly, and tourists are welcome to join.

One highlight among Hoi An’s “memory tourism” offerings is the collaboration with Da Nang International Airport to showcase traditional folk art at the terminal. With dedicated space and a steady audience, folk performances from Hoi An have found new momentum.

Traditional performing arts are a cultural tourism product that attracts visitors.

Another modern-traditional fusion is taking shape at the new Da Nang Museum, where exhibitions integrate augmented reality. A recent show, “Echoes of Bai Choi,” combined artwork based on traditional game cards with sound, visuals, and QR codes to enhance interactivity.

Future plans include developing river tours with stops at craft villages like Tuy Loan (rice paper-making), La Huong (herbal vegetable farming) and Nam O (fish sauce), along with experiences like bai choi singing, traditional food and visits to historic communal houses.
