(QNO) - On May 16th at Chu Lai International Port, THILOGI announced completing the Ky Ha channel dredging to -9.3m and signed a deal with Regional Container Lines (RCL) to launch a fixed Chu Lai - India shipping route.
Present at the event was Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung.
The Vietnam Maritime Administration confirmed the Ky Ha channel’s 9.3m depth, 110m width, and 11km length, allowing ships up to 30,000 DWT, thanks to THILOGI’s infrastructure investments.
At the event, Chu Lai welcomed RCL’s CHANA BHUM, carrying nearly 800 containers on the new Chu Lai - India route, running twice monthly.
This route cuts transport time and costs, linking Central Vietnam’s goods to major Indian ports and boosting exports of agriculture, garments, electronics, and industrial products.
Alongside the new route, THILOGI invested over VND 100 billion in infrastructure and the 2,200 HP CHU LAI PORT 02 tugboat to safely support large vessels and meet international standards, making Chu Lai port a growing hub in the global supply chain.
Chairman Le Van Dung called the Ky Ha channel upgrade and Chu Lai - India route launch key milestones in making Chu Lai Open Economic Zone a major international logistics and trading hub for Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
Mr. Le Van Dung highlighted the new direct route between Quang Nam and India as vital for global shipping cooperation. He urged THILOGI and Chu Lai port to lead maritime network expansion and green logistics investment, supporting Quang Nam and Central Vietnam’s rise in the global supply chain.
He also pledged support for businesses and Chu Lai port’s sustainable growth to drive regional development.
