(QNO) - Three U.S. experts have teamed up with Vietnam's Ministry of Health to investigate the measles outbreak in Nam Tra My (Quang Nam), where several cases have been reported.
On April 15, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam announced that the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Vietnam and the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang, has sent these experts to Nam Tra My (Quang Nam) to assess the measles outbreak and strengthen response efforts. Their focus is on vaccination, the most effective measure to prevent the disease.
The U.S. Embassy stated that measles has been spreading across the country, and Nam Tra My has been the site of several child fatalities. From January 25 to March 10, Quang Nam recorded 577 suspected measles cases, with 80 confirmed, including 255 cases in Nam Tra My. The district has seen 151 recoveries and 3 deaths.
