DNO - With the belief that giving is forever, many young people in Da Nang have been quietly "sowing" seeds of love and spreading warmth to the community through small but meaningful actions.
Nguyen Thuy Yen Thao, a resident of Da Nang’s Hoa Cuong Ward, is among them.
Being a recent graduate from the Faculty of Literature of the University of Education and Science - the University of Da Nang, Yen Thao has taken part in about 15 volunteer trips to mountainous communes in the former Quang Nam Province.
According to Thao, such meaningful trips helped her understand more about the lives of pupils and people as well in mountainous areas. Each trip had a different meaning, and she found happiness in sending kindness. It also helped her discover her purpose in life.
“I hope to always nurture my enthusiasm, so that even my smallest contribution can bring meaning to the younger generation” Thao said.
For nearly a month now, she has been working as a volunteer tutor for children living at the SOS Children's Village in Ngu Hanh Son Ward twice a week.
Similarly, Pham Tran Ngoc Thuy, a third-year student and leader of the Hand in Hand Club under the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology - the University of Da Nang, has the same spirit of community activities.
Thuy's group has carried out many programmes for people in remote areas, including the installation of solar-powered light posts, the donation of home lighting kits, and the gifting of agricultural tools, clothing, and daily necessities.
In addition, the group has donated more than 80 gifts of school supplies as part of the "Journey of the Sun" project; as well as cooked 100 free meals and organized movie screenings for children, and offered free haircuts to local people.
Also, group members have actively got involved in teaching children lessons on personal hygiene, and creative activities such as drawing, cutting and sculpture panting.
