DNO - Around 40 children with disabilities in Da Nang, on Wednesday, took part in an exchange programme at Tam Xuan 2 and Tam My Dong health stations with South Korean volunteers from Medipeace and the Jeju City Association of Social Workers.
The programme was part of the “Rehabilitation and Improvement of Quality of Life for Children with Disabilities in Quang Nam” project during the 2024 - 2026 period.
Funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Medipeace, the project aims to raise public awareness about people with disabilities and enhance social integration for children with disabilities.
During the exchange programme, South Korean volunteers, and local children, got involved in numerous activities designed to encourage creativity and bonding.
Despite language barriers, they together created crowns from leaves, drew pictures, made handprints to create "trees of hope", and played group games in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere.
Mrs. Heo Sunim, President of the Jeju City Association of Social Workers, expressed her joy and excitement at the visit to children with disabilities there. All members felt the friendliness and enthusiasm of the children.
"We were deeply moved when receiving meaningful gifts such as drawings made by teachers and children. I hope that the programme will continue to be maintained to give more Vietnamese children with disabilities the opportunity to integrate into the community sooner" Mrs. Heo Sunim said.
