DNO - Visitor access to Son Tra Peninsula has been suspended from October 8 until further notice as Da Nang prepares for heavy to torrential rain, with an increased risk of landslides and flash floods.

The Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Management Board announced the suspension to ensure the safety of residents and tourists ahead of the adverse weather forecast for October 8 - 9.
According to the board, the peninsula is entering a period of heavy rain, thunderstorms, whirlwinds and strong winds, with conditions likely to change unpredictably. Some roads may become slippery, while poor visibility, falling trees, rockfalls and fast-flowing water could pose significant hazards.
Residents and tourists are advised to avoid non-essential trips to the peninsula and reschedule their visits until conditions improve. Those already in the area should seek safe shelter and leave promptly if the weather deteriorates, particularly during heavy rain, lightning or strong winds. They should not continue their journeys or attempt to reach more distant attractions.
Motorists and motorcyclists are urged to reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance and switch on their headlights when visibility is limited. Extra caution is needed on steep slopes, sharp bends and wet roads, especially where water flows across the surface.
The board has also warned visitors against stopping or parking near large trees, cliff faces, embankments or areas showing signs of potential rockfalls and landslides. Taking photographs or engaging in recreational activities near cliff edges, unstable slopes or strong currents should be avoided.
Anyone encountering flooded roads, fast-flowing water or obstructions caused by fallen trees, soil or rocks must not attempt to cross. Instead, they should turn back, move to a safe location and follow instructions from the authorities.
The temporary closure is intended to minimize weather-related risks while ensuring public safety during the period of severe weather.
