(QNO) - On May 9th, a workshop on Halal technical standards for food and beverage businesses was held in Da Nang.
Present at the event were experts and businesses from Central Vietnam interested in the Halal market, which includes industries such as Halal food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, finance, tourism, and more.
Experts at the workshop updated Halal technical standards for the food service and processing industry, with a focus on ingredients, processing, hygiene, packaging, and service.
They also shared insights into Muslim culinary culture and customs to help businesses understand and meet Halal requirements.
According to the Global Islamic Economy 2023 report, the global Halal market is expected to reach over USD 2.8 trillion by 2025, covering various sectors like food, pharmaceuticals, and tourism, serving more than 2 billion Muslims worldwide.
Despite this growth, Vietnam currently only exports about 20 Halal-certified products, which is limited compared to its potential. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for businesses to share experiences and solutions for sustainable development in the Halal industry, particularly in regions like Quang Nam and Da Nang.
Quang Nam and Da Nang are actively promoting Halal as a potential market for tourism. Countries like India, Malaysia, and Indonesia are contributing to the growing number of Muslim tourists.
With new flights like Emirates’ Dubai-Bangkok-Da Nang route and charter flights from Kazakhstan, the region expects significant growth in Halal tourism in the coming years.
