DNO - A strong fourth-quarter economic surge significantly boosted Vietnam’s 2025 GDP growth, estimated at 8.02%, the second-highest rate in the 2011 - 2025 period, after the record set in 2022.

On January 5, 2026, the General Statistics Office announced socio-economic data for the fourth quarter (Q4) and full year of 2025, highlighting Q4 GDP growth of 8.46%, the highest fourth-quarter rate in the 2011 - 2025 period.
Growth driven by industry and services
Vietnam ended 2025 with strong economic momentum, as robust fourth-quarter performance lifted full-year GDP growth to an estimated 8.02%, the second-highest rate in the 2011-2025 period after 2022.
Growth accelerated steadily through the year, rising from 7.05% in Q1 to a peak of 8.46% in Q4, reflecting effective policy implementation amid global uncertainties.
Industry and construction remained the main growth engine, expanding 9.73% in Q4 and contributing nearly 46% to overall value added, while manufacturing and processing grew 9.97% for the year-the highest level since 2019.

The services sector grew 8.62% in 2025, the second-highest rate in 15 years, driven by wholesale and retail trade, transport and warehousing, and a strong tourism rebound with record international arrivals. Despite natural disasters, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries still expanded 3.78%, remaining a stable pillar of the economy.
Expanding the scale of the economy
Despite global turbulence in 2025 marked by conflicts and trade tensions, Vietnam effectively seized opportunities from rising AI investment and improving financial conditions, achieving the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia, outpacing regional peers even as global growth slowed.

Strong growth expanded the economic scale, with GDP reaching an estimated USD 514 billion, while GDP per capita rose to USD 5,026, reflecting improved living standards. Growth quality also improved, as labour productivity increased 6.83% and the share of trained workers reached 29.2%.
These achievements enabled Vietnam to complete its 2021 - 2025 socio-economic development plan and laid a solid foundation for future growth.
