(QNO) - The PWG project will fund 65 women-led green transformation initiatives, each eligible for up to VND 1.65 billion (EUR 60,000) for 12 to 18 months.
These initiatives will be implemented in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Bac Lieu as part of the EU-funded Women-Led Green Partnership program by Oxfam in Vietnam.
The goal of the project is to enhance women's participation in the green economy and circular economy, especially for women from marginalised groups such as ethnic minorities, women with disabilities, and poor women.
It aims to improve access to sustainable jobs and business opportunities while boosting women's decision-making power at both national and local levels.
The project also seeks to raise awareness and improve women's involvement in policy discussions related to climate change, disaster risk reduction, and environmental protection.
According to Pham Quang Tu, Deputy Country Director of Oxfam in Vietnam, the project will contribute to sustainable development by improving women's access to sustainable livelihoods and business opportunities.
The project is expected to benefit 7-10 million people indirectly, particularly vulnerable women and girls.
It will also support partnerships between public and private sectors to increase financial access for women-owned businesses, creating green jobs and enhancing women's roles in development.
A call for proposals for the first round of funding is open until 2029, with a focus on initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods through technology, creating sustainable jobs for women, and boosting their involvement in policy-making.
Eligible organisations for funding must be legally established in Vietnam, have at least 36 months of experience in development, and meet specific legal requirements for project implementation.
