Da Nang turns to digital storytelling to showcase culture
DNO - A new digital media competition in Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang is inviting residents, students, and content creators to share stories of local heritage, urban life, and community spirit through creative videos, bringing the cultural identity and people of Da Nang closer to wider audiences.

Hai Chau Ward People’s Committee launched the 2026 competition, titled “Promoting Hai Chau's Cultural Values on Digital Platforms”, at APEC Park on November 7.
The initiative encourages residents, students, and creative groups to use digital technology and social media to showcase the area's historical and cultural heritage, urban landscapes, and civic-minded lifestyle.
Under the theme “Hai Chau - Spreading Cultural Values, Connecting Communities”, the competition seeks to highlight stories rooted in everyday life, from historical sites and cultural landmarks to urban scenery and the image of friendly, united, and community-minded residents.
Through short videos and creative storytelling, participants are encouraged to present the distinctive character of their neighborhood from their own perspectives, producing engaging digital content capable of reaching and connecting with wider audiences.
Speaking at the launch, Tran Van Manh, Director of the Hai Chau Ward Public Service Center, said the area was rich in historical and cultural traditions while reflecting the dynamism and civility of a modern urban center.
As digital platforms exert an increasingly strong influence on everyday life, he noted, renewing communication methods would create more opportunities to promote local cultural values, foster community pride and encourage residents to preserve and build on their shared heritage.
Organizers are encouraging participants to draw inspiration from real-life stories and present them through authentic images and original perspectives. Entries should reflect the positive values of Hai Chau's people and community life, without distorting reality or staging misleading scenes.
In particular, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate fabricated images or video settings is prohibited. This requirement aims to ensure authenticity while reinforcing participants' responsibility when creating and sharing cultural content in the digital environment.
To support contestants, the organizing committee is working with the Faculty of Media Technology at FPT University in Da Nang to provide guidance on topic selection, concept development, video filming and editing, and effective storytelling.
The competition is open to public employees, Youth Union members, young people, school and university students, content creation groups and interested residents.

Entries can be submitted through the registration form at https://forms.gle/zTNuyH8YJAq7tW8s5. The deadline is November 20, 2026.
Eligible videos will be published on the Hai Chau News Facebook fanpage, where the public can watch, interact with and vote for their favorites. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at APEC Park in late November.
The competition is among the activities marking the National Great Unity Day on November 18 and Vietnam Culture Day on November 24.
It also aligns with Politburo Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW, dated January 7, 2026, on the development of Vietnamese culture, which emphasizes the role of culture and people in national development and encourages creativity, scientific and technological applications, and digital transformation to promote cultural values.
By inviting residents to become storytellers of their own communities, Hai Chau aims to create relatable, engaging digital content that helps preserve and promote local identity, foster a civilized urban lifestyle, and introduce Da Nang's dynamic character, cultural richness and welcoming people to visitors and audiences at home and abroad.
