Nurturing young talent
A tiny chip inside a television remote control first sparked Pham Nguyen Minh Tri’s curiosity about semiconductors. His initial interest gradually developed into a passion for semiconductor microchips while he was still in senior high school.
With an admission score of 28.49, Tri, a native of Gia Lai province, became the top-ranked student in the 2026 admissions cohort at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU).
He enrolled in Computer Engineering, specializing in Semiconductor Microchip Design, and was awarded a scholarship of VND70 million, covering 100% of his tuition fees for the first six semesters.
Also choosing this specialisation, Ho Tan Hau, a former student of Tieu La Senior High School in Thang Binh Commune, achieved the university's first runner-up position in the 2026 admissions intake with a score of 27.8. He received a scholarship worth VND50 million.
Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of VKU, said that, alongside its entrance scholarship policy, the university has established a cooperation network involving more than 200 domestic and international enterprises.
This network provides students with opportunities to gain practical experience, participate in projects and broaden their career prospects.

Aligning education with corporate needs
In addition to identifying and encouraging talented students, universities citywide are stepping up cooperation with technology enterprises through a range of programs designed to support students and enhance their professional development.
Most recently, the University of Science and Technology - the University of Danang, in collaboration with Synopsys and VietHope, awarded scholarships to outstanding students under the "Synopsys IC Design Scholarship Program 2026".
The program offers scholarships worth US$20,000 in total, with 10 outstanding students selected to receive US$500 each. Beyond financial assistance, the initiative also serves as a bridge connecting students with businesses and corporate partners.
In recent years, the University of Technology and Education - The University of Danang has gradually expanded its training programs to cover emerging technology fields, including Semiconductor IC Design, Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology and Semiconductor Materials.
The university has also prioritized the modernization of its practical training and laboratory facilities through investment projects funded by official development assistance (ODA).
Cooperation with major technology corporations such as Synopsys, Intel and Nvidia is expected to further improve training quality, giving local students access to advanced equipment, technologies and the technical standards required by the semiconductor industry.
