Da Nang students develop digital map, game to promote cultural heritage
DNO - Through digital map and game development projects, artists and students in Da Nang are seeking new and creative ways to promote cultural heritage, develop tourism, and spread a sense of pride in national identity, especially among younger generations.

“Hoi An Kien Su” game
With the aim of helping players to explore the ancient trading port of Hoi An, particularly the wedding of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro, artists, students, and Click Studio, a company affiliated with Duy Tan University, have developed the “Hoi An Kien Su” project.
The project was named among the top five entries, with no first, second, third, or fourth prizes awarded, and received the award for “Most Promising Project” at the 2025 Gamehub competition. The competition was organized by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information and the Vietnam Game Development Association.
“Hoi An Kien Su” allows players to take on the role of a time scientist tasked with returning a 500-year-old jade bracelet to Princess Ngoc Hoa.
Along the way, they can discover legendary stories and explore the distinctive cultural values of Hoi An's ancient trading port during its golden age.
Each session lasts around 20 - 30 minutes using virtual reality (VR) headsets.
The project aims to help players connect with the Hoi An Ancient Town’s history through emotional resonance and evocative memories. Also, it contributes to educating the public and tourists about the culture of the ancient town.
Click Studio plans to develop a standalone version of the game that can run directly on VR headsets without requiring a computer, with the aim of officially releasing it on app stores.

Digital maps for tourism development
Seeking to harness technology to promote culture and tourism as well as support urban management, a team of seven students from Son Tra Senior High School in An Hai Ward and Quang Trung Senior High School in Thanh Khe Ward has developed a website titled “Digital Maps for Tourism Development”.
According to Tran Hoang Lam, a 12th-grade student at Quang Trung Senior High School and head of the team, the project is more than just a website for locating places, it is a comprehensive digital platform that integrates various types of information to serve diverse needs.
Through the website, users can search for landmarks, historical sites, tourist attractions, schools, healthcare facilities, and urban infrastructure across the city. Included are Dien Hai Citadel, the Mother Nhu Monument, Da Nang Museum, Marble Mountains, and Han River Bridge.
Each location features integrated information, photographs, videos, and 360-degree interactive content, making exploration more visual and engaging.
The project has practical potential in three areas: education, tourism, and urban management.
In education, the digital map enables students to explore local knowledge in a more realistic and proactive way. It can also help introduce tourist attractions and promote Da Nang's historical, cultural, and tourism values.
The team plans to refine the project, upgrade its features, and expand its database to connect with relevant professional organizations and gradually broaden its practical applications in the coming time.
The project was showcased at the “Da Nang Youth Pioneering Digital Transformation 2026” Festival exhibition, organized by the Da Nang Youth Union in coordination with the municipal Department of Science and Technology.
It also won second prize in the 2025 “Da Nang Youth Innovation - Community Projects” Competition, organized by the Da Nang Youth Union in coordination with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
