Milestone in Da Nang’s film industry development
DNO - The year 2027 marks the fifth anniversary of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF). The festival has steadily established its standing, expanded international cooperation, and attracted public interest. DANAFF-V, scheduled to be held next year, aims to position the event as a driving force for Da Nang's film industry.

Preparation for the festival resource
During DANAFF-IV, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), noted that while each film festival lasts only a few days, the preparation process spans the entire year. As soon as one edition concludes, the preparation for the next begins, ranging from program development and promotion to engaging partners and inviting guests.
At the 31st Busan International Film Festival in the Republic of Korea from October 9 - 13, 2026, Da Nang, in collaboration with the VFDA, hosted a booth to promote DANAFF as part of the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM).
The booth showcased Da Nang’s natural landscapes, cultural heritages, and potential filming locations, providing a platform to connect with international producers, directors, distributors, and industry partners.
At the event, the leaders from the Da Nang People’s Committee participated in a discussion titled "Film Festivals: A Bridge Between Vietnamese Cinema and the World," as well as the "Vietnam Night" event.
On this occasion, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi outlined the vision for "DANAFF Industry Days", an initiative designed to serve as a hub for the international film market, fostering collaborations in production and distribution, and linking film projects with investors, producers, and co-production partners.
In the long term, Da Nang aims to develop its cultural industries into a highly competitive service-based economic sector. The city’s master plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision toward 2050, aims to build a complex for cultural industries, film studios, and post-production centers.
Alongside, Da Nang recently approved an investment policy for a Cultural and Film Center, a project with a total capital of nearly 520 billion VND, to bolster infrastructure for cultural, artistic, and cinematic activities.
In addition to infrastructure and international cooperation, Da Nang will pay attention to audience development for fostering the city's vibrant film culture.
Promoting film, culture, and tourism industries
The DANAFF-V is scheduled to take place from June 27 to July 3, 2027 with its theme "DANAFF - A Bridge from Asia to the World".
Alongside film screenings and professional activities, the festival plans to host an “APEC Film Spotlight” and an “APEC Film Forum,” aligning with the APEC Year 2027. This will create an opportunity for Da Nang's film industry to expand exchanges, connect filmmakers, and foster regional collaboration.

DANAFF-V will focus on strengthening market connections while integrating festival activities with the development and implementation of film projects.
The “DANAFF Industry Days” will evolve into “Industry Connect”, broadening opportunities for producers, distributors, and international partners to engage with one another.
Alongside the film project market, a screenplay incubator, and training programs for young talent, these activities aim to generate concrete collaborative opportunities.
To attract film production projects, the "Da Nang - A Film Destination" initiative will showcase potential filming locations and information regarding infrastructure, human resources, equipment, and services available to production crews.
The above activities are linked to a partnership between Da Nang and the VFDA. It aims to develop DANAFF and foster the film industry while broadening the city's culture and tourism.
