According to the plan, eight localities have been identified for development into key medical tourism hubs, including Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Hue, Khanh Hoa, and An Giang.

The plan aims to build a competitive, professional, high-quality medical tourism ecosystem in the region, thereby enhancing Vietnam’s standing in the healthcare sector and serving as a driver for economic development.

The selected locations can leverage their existing healthcare infrastructure alongside their potential for tourism, leisure, and wellness. This helps Vietnam to develop specialized medical tourism products that cater to the diverse needs of both domestic and international visitors.

The draft also outlines core medical tourism products, including health check-ups, disease screening and early detection, dentistry, fertility services, specialized medical treatments, traditional Vietnamese medicine, rehabilitation, health enhancement, and elderly care.

Furthermore, it seeks to establish a comprehensive process for serving international patients, ranging from initial consultation, appointment scheduling, admission, treatment, and payment to post-treatment follow-up. All information regarding service quality and expenditure must be made public, transparent, and available in multiple languages.
