The RoK’s National Foundation Day celebrated in Da Nang
DNO - The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Da Nang hosted a ceremony on October 22 to celebrate the RoK’s National Foundation Day (October 3).

The celebration helped reaffirm the commitment to strengthening the RoK - Vietnam friendship and cooperation, particularly between the RoK and Da Nang, and the Central Vietnam at large.
The event was attended by Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, representatives of local departments, agencies, and members of the foreign diplomatic agencies in the central Vietnamese city.
In his opening remarks, Consul General of the RoK in Da Nang Han Jungil highlighted historical and developmental similarities between Vietnam and the RoK.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, the two countries have continuously strengthened mutual trust and expanded cooperation across various fields, becoming important partners of each other.
According to the RoK diplomat, economic cooperation between the two countries has maintained its growth momentum. By the first half of 2026, their combined investment for the first time exceeded US$100 billion, while bilateral trade turnover is expected to surpass US$100 billion this year.

For Da Nang, and Central Vietnam as a whole, the RoK remains an important partner in tourism, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
In 2025, Da Nang welcomed approximately 1.46 million Korean visitors, helping the RoK secure its strong position as the city’s largest international tourism market.
A number of Korean businesses are currently operating in Da Nang in manufacturing, shipbuilding, tourism and advanced industries, contributing to economic development and job creation. Cooperation has also gradually expanded into science and technology, innovation, and cultural industries.
Recently, the Korea Character Business Association and Da Nang’s cultural, sports and tourism authorities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on intellectual property cooperation, opening up opportunities to integrate culture with digital technology.
In her remarks, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi affirmed that Da Nang consistently attaches importance to promoting friendly and cooperative relations with Korean localities and partners. To date, Da Nang has established friendly and cooperative relations with nine Korean localities, including Daegu.

Exchanges of delegations, cultural and educational activities, tourism promotion and business networking have been maintained, helping make bilateral cooperation increasingly substantive and effective.
In 2026, Da Nang - the RoK cooperation continued to gain momentum through the “Meet Korea in Da Nang 2026” conference and the Vietnam - Korea Festival 2026 in Da Nang.
These events provide platforms for connecting local authorities, businesses, organizations and people from both sides, while opening up further opportunities for cooperation in science and technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation.
According to the Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Da Nang aims to develop into a major socio-economic hub, with a focus on innovation, high technology, international finance and the marine economy.
The city, therefore, seeks to strengthen cooperation with the RoK in semiconductor technology, AI, digital transformation, logistics, education and high-quality human resource development.
Da Nang’s leadership reaffirmed the city’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for Korean businesses to operate effectively and expand their presence locally.
The city looks forward to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the RoK, as well as building increasingly close and sustainable ties between Da Nang and Korean localities.
