Da Nang businesses step up efforts to drive economic growth
DNO - Da Nang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 10.31% in the first nine months of 2026. This achievement is driven by local businesses’ efforts to secure orders, maximize production capacity, upgrade technology and expand markets.

Maintaining momentum during peak periods
During the January - September period, Da Nang’s GRDP grew by 10.31%. Behind this overall figure, however, individual factories experienced different operating conditions.
The Tan Long Packaging Company Limited, based in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, has maintained growth through steady orders and improved capacity utilization. Its output and revenue rose by around 7% year on year in the first nine months of 2026.
Entering the fourth quarter, demand for packaging for Christmas and Lunar New Year export goods is expected to increase, with the company projecting output to be 10 - 20% higher than in the same period last year.
According to Da Nang Statistics Office, the industrial employment index fell by 1.1% year on year in the first nine months, while the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 10%.
Employment in the processing and manufacturing sector alone declined by 1%. This trend partly reflected factories’ efforts to improve productivity, increase mechanization and automation, and make more efficient use of their workforce.
In contrast, labor shortages are putting pressure on some businesses during the peak season.
At U Word Sports Vietnam Company Limited, a wholly foreign-owned enterprise in Chien Dan Commune, order volumes in 2026 have remained comparable to previous years, with the fourth quarter continuing to be the busiest period.
The factory currently provides regular employment for around 630 workers. However, recruitment remains challenging, putting production schedules under pressure as the company ramps up operations to meet delivery deadlines.

A survey of 172 processing and manufacturing enterprises on their production and business outlook for the fourth quarter found that 34.5% expected conditions to improve, 39.18% anticipated stability, and 26.32% forecast greater difficulties.
Another indicator concerns market demand: while the IIP rose by 10% in the first nine months, the sales index for the processing and manufacturing sector increased by 5.5%. This gap highlights the need to align higher output with sales performance and cash flow management.
Technology upgrades and higher-value products
Alongside efforts to sustain production, many businesses are seeking new growth drivers by strengthening their internal capabilities through automation, deeper processing and the application of digital technologies.

The Luc Dong Construction and Trading Company Limited has gradually shifted from supplying raw rattan materials to producing more deeply processed products.
The company has invested in automatic weighing equipment, rattan-opening machines and other production support systems to reduce manual operations, improve raw material control and enhance product quality.
In the digital services sector, Go Media Communications and Technology Company Limited, based in Cam Le Ward, is developing its own technology infrastructure.
During the first nine months, the company’s net service revenue surged by 35 - 40% year on year, while the number of new contracts rose by approximately 25%.
Its e-commerce business recorded an increase of more than 240% in the number of campaigns. Average contract values also rose as the company expanded into service packages covering sales, operations and technology solutions.
2026 has been the year of the company’s largest investment in in-house technology infrastructure.
The company has developed its own project management system, customer relationship management (CRM) platform, AI-powered chatbots, AI video production and design tools, internal knowledge base, and real-time advertising reports to better suit its operational needs.
As Da Nang aims to sustain strong economic growth, businesses’ proactive efforts to innovate must go hand in hand with improvements to the investment and business environment.
Timely solutions to bottlenecks involving capital, labor, raw materials and market access by the municipal administration will help businesses make better use of their production resources, thereby providing fresh momentum for the city’s economic growth in the final months of the year.
