Chinese firm eyes car battery plant investment in Da Nang
DNO - On October 14, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang received Mr. Hu Xiaodong, the high-ranking leader of China's Rept Battero Energy Co.,Ltd., and Mr. Tran Ngoc Dan, the leader of Tan Thanh Do (New City Group).

The meeting highlighted discussions about the investment environment for battery and automotive manufacturing.
According to Mr. Hu Xiaodong, Rept Battero Energy Co.,Ltd. would be responsible for battery production under the proposed investment cooperation in Da Nang. The batteries would serve automotive manufacturing, with a view to supplying international markets.
He expressed the company’s wish for support and guidance from city leaders and relevant authorities as it surveys potential sites, assesses investment options, and undertakes the necessary procedures.
The Chinese company expects the proposed project, developed in cooperation with an automotive manufacturer in China, to establish a foundation for battery production, expand market access and strengthen cooperation in the automotive and new energy industries.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Ngoc Dan also outlined some of Tan Thanh Do's plans and called on the city’s administration to continue facilitating the company’s efforts to implement its project in Da Nang.

Welcoming the above-mentioned investment plans, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang spoke positively of Tan Thanh Do’s proposed car assembly project, which is expected to have an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles.
Also, he welcomed Rept Battero Energy Co.,Ltd.’s interest in developing a battery plant to support the automotive industry.
According to the Da Nang Party chief, Da Nang is being positioned as a new growth pole for Vietnam by 2030, with an important role in the Central Vietnam.
The central Vietnamese city is prioritizing investment in industry, high technology, logistics, tourism, and services, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI), electronics, chips and semiconductors.
Da Nang currently has 1,162 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of approximately US$11 billion. Chinese businesses account for 119 projects, with combined investment of around US$878 million.
The city leader encouraged Rept Battero Energy Co.,Ltd. to continue studying and surveying Da Nang as a potential location for its automotive battery plant, suggesting the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park as an option for investment in battery and energy equipment manufacturing.
The Park offers developed infrastructure, convenient transport links, proximity to the Lien Chieu Port and incentive policies for high-tech investors.
A battery manufacturing facility alongside the proposed car assembly project could strengthen links between different stages of production and support the development of an automotive industrial ecosystem in the region.
The existing Truong Hai automobile manufacturing and assembly complex in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, Da Nang, provides a foundation for greater cooperation among businesses in the automotive sector.

With a regard to the proposed vehicle manufacturing and assembly project, with a planned maximum capacity of 150,000 vehicles a year and an export-oriented strategy, the city leader said it could contribute to the local industrial development.
Export products must meet high technological standards and strict quality requirements, while achieving a high level of localization would help develop supporting industries and strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity.
The Da Nang leader asked both companies to continue working with relevant authorities and departments to assess potential locations, develop implementation plans and complete the required procedures in accordance with regulations.
He reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting investment projects that align with its development priorities, including helping businesses address obstacles and facilitating the timely and efficient handling of legal procedures to advance project implementation.
Rept Battero Energy Co., Ltd. was founded in 2017 as the first new energy-focused enterprise deployed by Tsingshan Industrial, a Fortune Global 500 company.
