During the event, relevant organizations provided information on a range of valuable scholarships offered by the New Zealand Government, including short-term scholarships for experts and senior personnel from ASEAN countries, as well as the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships.

The event also introduced scholarships under Project 89, the Vietnamese Government’s project to enhance competencies of lecturers and administrators at higher education institutions to meet the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive education and training reform until 2030.

Representatives from New Zealand universities also shared insights into their institutions’ strengths in education and research, as well as the practical benefits that New Zealand’s education system offers international students.

They also provided first-hand guidance on preparing scholarship applications, helping prospective candidates gain confidence in applying for scholarships and improve their chances of being selected.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat, Acting Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation at the University of Da Nang, the program was particularly significant following the signing of a new cooperation agreement in August 2026 between New Zealand’s Ministry of Education and Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, replacing the previous agreement signed in 2022.

The program further expanded opportunities for officials, lecturers and students to learn about and access scholarship programs offered by the New Zealand Government and universities across the country.
