Da Nang partners with ShopeeFood on digital food ecosystem
DNO - Da Nang is moving to put its culinary scene on the digital map, with plans to build a citywide food ecosystem and strengthen the connection between local eateries, traditional markets, residents, and tourists.

The move was discussed at a meeting on October 7, chaired by Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, to review proposed cooperation with Foody Corporation, which operates ShopeeFood.
Under the proposed partnership, Da Nang and ShopeeFood will work toward developing a digital food ecosystem and Da Nang food map, while expanding a network of participating food businesses.
The cooperation will also support digital transformation and improve business capabilities for local food establishments and household businesses.
The initiative is expected to help promote the identity and value of Da Nang’s cuisine through digital platforms, while introducing a food card and developing culinary experiences at traditional markets and public spaces.
Besides, the city and ShopeeFood will explore joint food tourism festivals, data sharing and performance measurement.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi welcomed the proposals and agreed in principle to cooperation between the city and ShopeeFood.
She said the partnership should contribute to the digital transformation of the local night-time economy, improve the competitiveness of household businesses, and strengthen the promotion of Da Nang as a culinary tourism destination.
At the same time, she stressed that all cooperation activities must comply with regulations and strike a balance between promoting Da Nang’s destination brand, preserving local culture, protecting the interests of traders and residents, and improving visitors’ experiences. Excessive commercialization should be avoided.

The city will finalize a detailed memorandum of understanding and develop a phased implementation plan. This will include establishing criteria for selecting representative food establishments before they are featured on the digital food map, while efforts will also be coordinated to raise the Da Nang Food Tour Festival to an international scale.
Data connection, storage and sharing between ShopeeFood’s system and the city’s shared database will be closely managed, with information security given priority.
Meanwhile, all participating businesses and market stalls will be subject to reviews and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
Local authorities will help select eligible businesses, food streets and check-in destinations for digital transformation support. They will also identify traditional markets for the pilot “Da Nang Food Market” model and connect OCOP products and local specialties to ShopeeFood’s supply chain.
The city has asked ShopeeFood to clearly outline the benefits, responsibilities, resource commitments and timeline for each phase, while promptly surveying pilot traditional markets to plan QR code installation, digitize market stalls, and identify representative food businesses and food streets.
