Da Nang approves 17 WVI-funded programs and projects

At the reception for her guest, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi highly appreciated WVI's continued support and its practical and effective contributions to the city in recent years.
She added that WVI-funded programs and projects in Da Nang focused on community development, child care and protection, improving social inclusion for children with autism and intellectual disabilities, emergency assistance for disaster recovery, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and the protection of aquatic resources.
To date, Da Nang has approved 17 WVI-funded programs and projects with a total committed value of nearly US$9.18 million.
These include nine area programs, five projects aimed at improving social inclusion for children with autism and intellectual disabilities, two emergency international aid packages for disaster recovery, and one project on marine biodiversity and aquatic resource conservation.
Mrs. Thi highlighted the significance of WVI’s programs and projects in providing additional resources for the city as well as supporting vulnerable groups and improving people’s living conditions.
These project also helped local authorities address social issues through long-term and sustainable approaches, she noted.
The Vice Chairwoman asked for a helping hand from WVI to mobilize resources and implement practical programs and projects that respond to local needs based on its experience, expertise and international partner network.
She emphasized such efforts will greatly contribute to the city’s socio-economic development goals, sustainable poverty reduction and social welfare.

She hoped that, through the implementation of its area programs and direct engagement at the grassroots level, WVI will continue to share effective community development experience and models, as well as insight into practical issues requiring attention.
The purpose is to assist local agencies in studying and developing appropriate solutions to improve people’s quality of life and promote sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development.
She affirmed that Da Nang will create favorable conditions for WVI to carry out programs and projects in compliance with regulations, and reach the intended beneficiaries, thereby maximizing the effectiveness of aid resources.
For his part, Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay thanked the city leaders for their warm reception and said WVI would fully implement the commitments agreed upon.
He stated that WVI will review its activities and make adjustments to align with the practical conditions and new geographical scope of the expanded Da Nang, with the aim of maximizing the effectiveness of its programs and projects, particularly in the western areas of the city.
