Da Nang, Japan’s Kinokawa seek to deepen friendship, people-to-people ties
DNO - A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, led by its Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan, held a working session with Kinokawa Mayor Kishimoto Takeshi at the Kinokawa City Hall in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on October 1.

Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm reception extended by the Kinokawa authorities. She also welcomed the opportunity to meet Mayor Kishimoto Takeshi again following his visit to Da Nang in July 2026 to attend the Vietnam - Japan Festival.
At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan said that, as a political alliance that brings together broad sections of the population, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang represents and protects the legitimate rights and interests of the people, promotes democracy, conducts social supervision, and contributes to local governance.
People-to-people diplomacy is also an important focus of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, with activities aimed at building stronger communities, improving social welfare and promoting the role of local people as active participants in local development.

The Da Nang delegation’s visit to Kinokawa aims to study and learn from the Japanese city’s experience, including practical models of governance and mechanisms for ensuring people’s participation in the formulation and implementation of policies. The experience is expected to provide a basis for further research and possible application in Da Nang.
Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Lan stressed that, building on the Memorandum of Understanding on promoting friendship and cooperation signed by the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Kinokawa government in July 2026, the two sides should continue close coordination to deepen and make their cooperation more substantive.
Priority areas in the coming period include promoting cooperation in high-tech agriculture, implementing staff exchange programmes and strengthening exchanges among young people, thereby fostering friendship, mutual understanding and closer people-to-people ties between the two cities.
Earlier during the visit to Japan, the Da Nang delegation held a working session with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka and met with members of the Vietnamese community in the Kansai region.
