Promoting multilateral cooperation for green development and biodiversity conservation
DNO - An international conference was held in Da Nang on September 24 to discuss ways to strengthen multilateral cooperation in promoting green and circular economic development as well as protecting biodiversity in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
Themed “Multi-stakeholder Cooperation in Green and Circular Economic Development Linked to Biodiversity Conservation”, the event was attended by nearly 160 domestic and international delegates.
It was jointly organized by the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations, the University of Science and Education - the University of Da Nang, and the GreenViet Biodiversity Conservation Centre (GreenViet).
In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the event, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu expressed his hope that the conference would bring science, technology and innovation closer to businesses, cooperatives and communities.
He also emphasized the need to find solutions to ensure a balance between economic development and livelihood creation, and the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity.
At the conference, delegates discussed global trends in green and circular economic development, policies and implementation practices in Vietnam, and opportunities to strengthen multilateral cooperation to drive the green transition in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
Notably, the multilateral networking session focused on discussing needs, cooperation opportunities, and resource mobilization to put initiatives into practice.
Media cooperation on green and circular economies and biodiversity conservation
On the occasion, GreenViet signed several cooperation agreements with relevant partners to promote green and circular economic development and biodiversity conservation.
Specifically, the Da Nang Newspaper and Radio, Television (DNRT) entered into a cooperation agreement with GreenViet on communications about the green economy, circular economy, nature conservation, and biodiversity.
Under the deal, during the 2026 - 2028 period, GreenViet and DNRT will cooperate on communications to raise public awareness of the green economy, circular economy, sustainable development, environmental protection, nature conservation and biodiversity.
The partnership will also promote effective models, initiatives, products and approaches related to green and circular economic development linked to community livelihoods.
Also at the event, GreenViet and the AA Architecture Construction JSC agreed to conduct research and survey activities regarding the ecological characteristics of gray-shanked douc langurs and red-shanked douc langurs in Da Nang.
GreenViet also partnered with the Faculty of Biology, Agriculture and Environment at the University of Science and Education - the University of Da Nang on training, scientific research, and biodiversity conservation.
More interestingly, GreenViet pledged nearly VND1.9 billion in funding for the Hoa Bac Eco-agriculture and Community-based Tourism Cooperative in Hai Van Ward, the Son Tra Seafood Cooperative Group in Son Tra Ward, and the Ba Tu Agriculture and Construction Cooperative in Song Vang Commune to implement green and circular economy projects.
Additionally, the organization provided over VND813 million in funding to three women in Hai Van Ward, Son Tra Ward, and Song Vang Commune to implement production and business initiatives aligned with green and circular economy principles.
