Da Nang Book Festival 2026 celebrates the power of reading
DNO - The Da Nang Book Festival 2026 opened on September 17, bringing books, historical materials and interactive reading activities to local residents while promoting a culture of reading and lifelong learning.
Held at the Da Nang branch of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance, the three-day festival is organized by the Da Nang Library in coordination with the Dien Ban Dong Ward People’s Committee.
Under the theme “Spreading Reading Culture - Connecting Knowledge - Shaping the Future,” the event offers a range of activities for students, young people and residents.
Rather than focusing solely on displaying books, the festival creates a space where reading is connected with history, education and community life.
A central exhibition features books, newspapers, information resources, archival materials and photographs related to the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.
It also introduces the life and contributions of Huynh Thuc Khang, a prominent Vietnamese patriot, and Vo Chi Cong, a revolutionary leader.
Through these materials, visitors can explore important chapters of Vietnam’s history and gain a deeper understanding of the people who contributed to the country’s development.
The festival also showcases award-winning entries from previous Reading Culture Ambassador competitions, alongside artistic book displays.
These exhibits offer a visual and accessible way for young visitors to discover books while encouraging creativity and a stronger connection with reading.
One of the festival’s notable features is the mobile multimedia library vehicle “Light of Knowledge.” Bringing books and reading, learning and multimedia equipment directly to the community, the mobile library expands access to library resources beyond conventional library spaces.
Its presence is particularly meaningful for students and young people, giving them more opportunities to explore books and educational materials in an informal setting.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to make reading an accessible part of community life. In addition to providing opportunities to discover books, the festival encourages residents to exchange ideas, explore historical and cultural knowledge, and develop the habit of self-learning.
For Da Nang, promoting reading is therefore closely linked with building a learning-oriented community.
The Da Nang Book Festival 2026, running through September 19, offers a reminder that in an increasingly digital world, books remain an important bridge between knowledge, history and the community.
