Association of Vietnamese People, Vietnamese Language Centre in Laos’ Attapeu leverage bridging role
DNO - A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People's Council Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung, visited the Association of Vietnamese People and the Vietnamese Language Center in Attapeu Province, Laos, on Thursday.

More than 1,000 people are currently living, studying and working in Attapeu Province. Most of them are engaged in small-scale business models, repair services and agricultural activities.
In recent years, the Vietnamese community in Attapeu has consistently upheld solidarity, supported one another in daily life, preserved fine traditions, and complied with regulation.
The two-storey Vietnamese Language Centre in Attapeu Province was built with support from Da Nang in 2018 at a total investment of VND6 billion.
Every year, Da Nang sends two teachers to teach at the center which offers 12 classes for grades 1 - 9, with a total of 450 students.

Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung warmly inquired about the lives of Vietnamese community members and learned about their circumstances.
He also praised the role of the association and the center in preserving and promoting national cultural identity, as well as nurturing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Da Nang and Attapeu in particular.
In particular, suitable curricula and training methods, developed by the Vietnamese Language Centre in Attapeu Province, has enabled generations of Lao officials, and children of Lao residents to take part in Vietnamese language courses.

Affirming that the Party and State have always regarded overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Fatherland, Chairman Dung affirmed that the city would continue providing appropriate support policies for the community members.

He also expressed his hope that the association and the center would continue to promote their role as bridges to strengthen the special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as between Da Nang and Attapeu.

On the occasion, the Da Nang delegation provided VND100 million in support to the Association of Vietnamese People in Attapeu Province and VND10 million to the Vietnamese Language Centre in Attapeu Province.
Gifts were also presented to the two teachers sent by the city to teach at the center.
