Da Nang leaders visit the Vietnamese community in Champasak (Laos)

DNO - During a working visit to southern-central provinces of Laos, a high-level Da Nang delegation led by Chairman of the municipal People's Council, Nguyen Duc Dung, on Wednesday, visited the Vietnamese community in Champasak Province.

At the reception, Vice Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese People in Champasak, Tran Duc Loc, noted that the Vietnamese community in this province has developed over several generations. The association currently includes 1,100 households with a total population of 4,780.

Vietnamese people in Champasak are mainly engaged in investment and trade, as well as in fields of construction, carpentry, and automotive and motorcycle repair. The Vietnamese community always promotes the fine traditional cultural values of the nation with solidarity and mutual support in daily life and strictly complies with the policies and regulations of Champasak Province.

Champasak Province currently has one friendship school and two kindergartens with 20 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of over 450 students.

Speaking at the working session, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung asked about the living conditions and economic situation of the Vietnamese community in Champasak. He also praised the association for helping Vietnamese people stabilise their lives, develop livelihoods, and strengthen ties between the community and Champasak authorities.

Nguyen Duc Dung valued the efforts of the Vietnamese Language Center in Champasak Province in teaching the language. It thereby helps to spread national traditions and values ​​while further deepening the special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

He committed that Da Nang will continue to pay attention to, provide appropriate support for, and facilitate Vietnamese language teaching in Champasak Province.

On this occasion, the Da Nang delegation provided 100 million VND in support to the Association of Vietnamese People in Champasak and 10 million VND to the Champasak Vietnamese Language Center. Da Nang also presented gifts to encourage the two teachers who have been sent to teach Vietnamese at the center.
