Da Nang and Champasak exchange experience in People’s Council operations
DNO - A Da Nang delegation led by municipal People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung held talks with Champasak leaders on September 15 to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two localities.
Champasak provincial People’s Council Chairman Alounxay Sounnalath welcomed the delegation and briefed it on the province’s development and reforms in the operations of elected bodies.
Alounxay Sounnalath highly appreciated Da Nang for its cooperation and support and proposed greater experience sharing in organisational structure and People’s Council operations, particularly in developing mechanisms and policies to support local development.
Nguyen Duc Dung congratulated Champasak on its achievements and briefed provincial leaders on Da Nang’s development. The city recorded GRDP growth of 9.52% in the first half of 2026 and is targeting 11% growth by year-end.
He affirmed that Da Nang would continue allocating resources and coordinating with Champasak to effectively implement their 2026-2030 cooperation programme. The two People’s Councils will also maintain exchanges and share experience in improving local government operations.
On the occasion, Da Nang provided Champasak with VND 500 million in financial assistance for social welfare and recovery from recent flooding.
Later, the delegation visited the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse.
Vietnamese Consul General in Pakse Ta Phuong Dung said Vietnamese businesses currently have 115 investment projects in Southern Laos, mainly in trade, industry, services, energy and mineral extraction, with six new projects attracted in the first half of 2026.
Nguyen Duc Dung thanked the Consulate General for serving as a bridge between Da Nang and South-Central Lao provinces and supporting the implementation of cooperation programmes.
The delegation also visited the Vietnamese community, providing VND 100 million to the Vietnamese Association in Champasak and VND 10 million to the province’s Vietnamese Language Centre.
