Da Nang leaders visit Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet

The delegation included Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi and leaders of several municipal departments, agencies and localities. Consul General of Vietnam in Savannakhet Nguyen Van Dung welcomed the delegation.

On behalf of the Da Nang delegation, Nguyen Duc Dung conveyed his greetings to the officials and staff of the Consulate General and expressed his appreciation for the Consulate General’s attention and support for Da Nang in recent years.

He noted that such support had contributed to the city’s effective implementation of cooperation programmes and helped strengthen the friendship between Da Nang and Savannakhet.

Briefing on Da Nang’s socio-economic development, Nguyen Duc Dung said the city had achieved positive results, with its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increasing by 9.52% in the first six months of 2026. Da Nang is striving to achieve an annual growth rate of at least 11% this year.

With regard to the cooperation programme between Da Nang and the southern and central provinces of Laos for 2026 - 2030, he asked the Consulate General to continue playing its role as a bridge between the two sides and coordinating efforts to effectively and synchronously implement cooperation projects.

He also called for the Consulate General’s continued support in promoting friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and Savannakhet, as well as other localities in the region.

Consul General of Vietnam in Savannakhet Nguyen Van Dung thanked the Da Nang delegation for its goodwill and shared an overview of the Consulate General’s activities, socio-economic development in the region and cooperation between the central provinces of Laos and Vietnamese localities, including Da Nang.

In recent years, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet has played an important role in connecting localities, supporting Vietnamese businesses in exploring investment opportunities in central Laos, promoting people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties, and introducing Vietnam’s land and people.

Mr Nguyen Van Dung spoke highly of Da Nang’s cooperation, support and investment-promotion activities with Savannakhet and other southern and central Lao provinces, particularly its efforts to support social welfare.

Looking ahead, it is hoped that Da Nang would continue to improve the effectiveness of its cooperation programmes and work closely with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet to further deepen friendship and cooperation between the localities in a substantive, practical and effective manner.
