Young creators bring Da Nang’s international events to social media
DNO - Young and creative communicators are bringing fresh energy to international event promotion in Da Nang, helping the city strengthen its image as an open, dynamic destination for global cultural exchange.

From festivals to social media
Over the past three months, 38 students from the Faculty of Communication Technology at the FPT University Da Nang have joined the communications teams behind some of the city’s major international cultural events. Included were the Vietnam-Japan Festival, the Vietnam-Korea Festival and the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026.
Their work offers more than a fresh approach to social media. It reflects Da Nang’s broader ambition to present itself as an open, dynamic and culturally distinctive city, where international exchange is part of everyday urban life.
With strategic support from the Centre for International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services (CIFA), under the Department of Foreign Affairs, and guidance from university lecturers, the students have worked directly on event communications, from planning stories and producing videos to reporting from venues.
They look for the human moments behind the events: international artists meeting local audiences, visitors discovering Vietnamese cuisine, young people experiencing foreign cultures and traditional performances bringing communities together.
“We try to make our content dynamic, natural and slightly humorous so that it is easier to connect with audiences, especially through short-form videos,” Lan Anh said.
The challenge, she added, is maintaining a balance between a youthful digital style and the professionalism expected of an international cultural and diplomatic event.
On Facebook, the “Da Nang External Affairs Events” page recorded more than 662,000 views, a 6,400% increase, while its reach exceeded 181,900 people, up 6,100%.
CIFA’s Facebook page recorded more than 115,800 views, up 654.7%.
A new TikTok channel, CIFA Danang, launched in June 2026, has also begun connecting with younger audiences. Its first 32 videos attracted more than 51,000 views and nearly 900 likes.
Turn real events into engaging stories
For Ho Khac Anh Quan, who works on Facebook content, cultural exchange becomes more engaging when audiences can see and feel it.
His team highlights food, music, martial arts, cultural experiences and interactions between international performers and local residents, using short videos, images and interactive activities.
The strategy also reflects how international visitors increasingly discover destinations.
A city’s image is no longer shaped only by tourism campaigns or official publicity. It is built through countless digital encounters - a performance, a local dish, a smiling face, a street scene or a spontaneous exchange captured on a phone.
According to Do Trung Kien, CIFA’s Deputy Director, the student-produced content combines the reliability required for official external-affairs communications with a younger and more flexible approach suited to contemporary media habits.
The experiment also reflects a broader shift in how cities communicate internationally. Cultural diplomacy is no longer limited to formal ceremonies, press releases or official photographs. Increasingly, the people, emotions and everyday experiences surrounding an event can become part of the story.
CIFA hopes to continue working with FPT University Da Nang on future international events, with a focus on bilingual content, short-form video, behind-the-scenes stories and interviews.
By giving young creators a greater role in telling the city’s international stories, the project offers a new way to present Da Nang to global audiences as an open, dynamic and culturally distinctive city where international connections are experienced not only on stage, but also through direct human interaction.
