Da Nang warns tourists against unauthorised trekking tours on Son Tra Peninsula
DNO - On September 10, the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Management Board raised concerns over the organisation of unauthorised trekking and ecotourism tours into the special-use forest on the Son Tra Peninsula in Son Tra Ward.

Amid the emergence of spontaneous trekking tours, ecotourism experiences and wildlife-watching activities of unclear legal status in the peninsula’s special-use forest, the Management Board has advised residents and vísitors not to book, purchase or participate in such activities.
Residents and visitors are urged not to enter the forest via trails or unofficial paths to take part in activities organised without authorisation. In particular, trekking and wildlife-watching activities in the evening are strictly prohibited without permission from the competent authorities.
Anyone who discovers unauthorised tours being organised in the special-use forest should immediately notify the relevant authorities or the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Management Board so that timely inspections and measures can be taken in accordance with regulations.
The Son Tra Peninsula is of exceptional value for its forest ecosystem, biodiversity and natural landscape. Tourism and recreational activities in the area must therefore strictly comply with regulations designed to protect its natural resources and environment.
At present, an ecotourism, resort and recreation development plan for the Son Tra Nature Reserve has yet to be approved. As a result, organisations or individuals entering the special-use forest without permission from the competent authorities to conduct trekking, sightseeing, recreational or wildlife-watching activities are in violation of the law.
The Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Management Board has also warned travel businesses and individuals against advertising, selling or organising tours, or taking tourists into the Son Tra special-use forest without approval from the competent authorities.
Unauthorised tour operations and taking visitors into the forest without permission not only pose potential safety risks to tourists but also constitute serious violations of regulations on forest management and protection.
The Management Board called on local communities, tourists and travel businesses to embrace responsible tourism and strictly comply with regulations to help protect forest resources and biodiversity on the Son Tra Peninsula.
