Museums and heritage sites in Da Nang attract large crowds during National Day holiday
DNO - During the 5-day break for National Day (September 2) holiday, museums, exhibition centers, and historical sites across Da Nang welcomed large numbers of local residents and visitors.
Many families and groups of young people chose these destinations for cultural and educational experiences during the holiday.
Museums and exhibition spaces citywide remained open throughout the National Day holiday to serve residents and visitors.
Notably, the Da Nang Museum offered free admission on September 2 at both of its locations: 42 Bach Dang Street in Hai Chau Ward and 281 Phan Boi Chau Street in Ban Thach Ward.
The Da Nang Fine Arts Museum and the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture also waived admission fees for visitors on this day.
At the Da Nang Museum, visitor numbers increased significantly. From early morning, the exhibition galleries were bustling with visitors, including many families with young children. The museum welcomed around 1,500 - 2,000 visitors each day.
A similarly vibrant atmosphere was seen at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture and the Military Region 5 Museum.
Visitors often came in groups. Some closely examined artifacts and historical documents, while others took the opportunity to capture commemorative photos with family and friends.
The Hoang Sa Exhibition House was another popular destination thanks to a range of new and engaging activities introduced during the holiday.
After exploring the collection of documents and materials, visitors could take part in the “Proud of Vietnam” check-in activity, fold paper cranes carrying messages to Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands, or test their knowledge in the “Historical Decoding Journey”.
The atmosphere became even more lively as participants worked together to answer questions and explore facts, documents, and meaningful stories regarding the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.
Paper cranes, folded on-site, served as a symbolic bridge for locals and tourists alike to express their sentiments toward the nation's islands and seas.
The Marble Mountains Tourist Area also saw a surge in the number of visitors during the holiday, especially in the morning and afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Hoi An Ancient Town was bustling with tourists during the this period.
During the National Day break, many people chose these destinations not only for leisure but also to gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture.
According to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year’s National Day holiday lasted five consecutive days, from August 29 through September 2.
A series of attractive activities and events, effective tourism promotion efforts, and close cooperation among agencies, organizations and travel businesses, helped drive strong growth in the number of visitors to Da Nang compared with the same period in 2025.
Specifically, the total number of visitors to Da Nang from August 29 to September 2 was estimated at over 850,000, up 37% year-on-year.
Of the figure, international visitors accounted for more than 224,000. The number of overnight visitors hit over 275,000, up 36% year-on-year.
Revenue from the local tourism sector reached an estimated VND3.326 trillion.
