Da Nang attracts large crowds during National Day holiday
DNO - The five-day break for National Day holiday in 2026, from August 29 through September 2, has drawn large numbers of visitors to Da Nang, thanks to a wide range of activities and events being held across the city.
Popular destinations see strong visitor numbers
At the Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park, all on-site accommodation facilities were fully booked well in advance, reaching 100% occupancy.
In addition to hot mineral bathing and entertainment services, the venue has added circus and artistic performances to meet visitors’ recreational needs during the holiday.
A vibrant atmosphere has also been recorded at the Sun World Ba Na Hills Tourist Area.
According to data provided by Traveloka, ticket bookings for the tourist area during this year’s National Day holiday surged by 132% compared with the same period last year.
One of the new attractions drawing visitors’ attention at the Sun World Ba Na Hills is the interactive light art installation “Nguon Coi” (The Origins).
Covering nearly 800 square meters at the Moon Castle, the installation is divided into seven zones. Its lighting system responds to visitors’ movements and interactions, creating an immersive and distinctive experience.
Moreover, accommodation establishments in Hoi An have reported positive signs during the holiday.
In the early days of the holiday, the ancient town attracted large numbers of domestic and international visitors.
Taking place from August 28 to September 2, the Hoi An Creative Week 2026 features nearly 20 cultural, artistic and experiential activities for residents and visitors.
Visitor arrivals to Da Nang expected to rise 18%
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of visitors to the city during the five-day holiday is estimated to increase by 18% compared with the same period in 2025.
The city’s average hotel occupancy rate is forecast at around 65% - 70%, while four- and five-star hotels and equivalent accommodation facilities are expected to reach approximately 70%-75%.
Guests are mainly staying at beachfront and downtown properties, particularly in An Hai, Ngu Hanh Son, Hai Chau, Son Tra, and Hoi An wards.
Regarding air travel, a total of 872 domestic and international flights are expected to arrive in Da Nang from August 29 to September 2, up 27.8%, or 190 flights, compared with the same period last year. The average frequency is about 174 flights per day, a rise of 38 flights per day.
Of the total, domestic flights are expected to account for 545, up 37%, with an average of 109 flights per day.
International flights are estimated at 327, up 14.7%, with an average of 65 flights per day.
Vietnam Airlines resumed the Da Lat - Da Nang route on August 19, operating 10 flights per week.
For rail transport, in addition to regular services, the railway operator has added four North-South passenger trains, SE23/SE24, as well as regional services, including the Ha Noi - Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang routes, to meet increased travel demand during the holiday.
With visitor numbers expected to rise from a year earlier, the 2026 National Day holiday once again highlights Da Nang’s strong appeal on the tourism map of central Vietnam.
Alongside attracting visitors, maintaining service quality, ensuring safety and enhancing visitor experiences at destinations will be crucial to encouraging tourists to return during future holidays.
