Da Nang expected to receive 872 flights during National Day holiday
DNO - Da Nang is preparing for a surge in tourist arrivals during Vietnam’s National Day holiday, with the city expecting visitor numbers to rise 18% year on year during the five-day break from August 29 to September 2.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, average hotel occupancy across the city is forecast at 65-70%, while four- and five-star hotels and equivalent properties are expected to reach 70-75%.
Tourist demand is expected to be strongest at beachfront and downtown accommodation facilities, particularly in Ngu Hanh Son, Hai Chau, Son Tra, Hoi An wards.
Air connectivity sees strong growth
Da Nang is also set to benefit from a sharp increase in air connectivity during the holiday period.
Data from the Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, the operator of Da Nang International Terminal and airlines show that the city is expected to receive approximately 872 domestic and international flights, up 27.8% from the same period in 2025.
That means Da Nang will welcome an average of 174 inbound flights a day - about 38 more daily arrivals than during last year’s holiday.
Domestic services are expected to account for about 545 flights, up 37% year on year, with an average of 109 flights per day. International services are projected at 327 flights, representing a 14.7% increase, with around 65 flights arriving daily.
The surge in air services highlights the growing role of Da Nang as a major tourism gateway in central Vietnam, while stronger international connectivity is expected to support both domestic travel demand and the city’s efforts to attract overseas visitors.
Rail services strengthened to meet holiday demand
Rail travel will also be expanded to accommodate the expected increase in passenger demand.
In addition to regular train services, the railway operator will add four North-South passenger services, SE23/SE24, along with additional regional trains.
These include services connecting Hanoi and Da Nang, as well as the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City and the central hub of Da Nang.
The additional services are expected to provide more travel options during the peak holiday period and contribute to the increase in visitor arrivals to Da Nang.
With stronger air and rail connectivity, rising hotel occupancy and growing tourist demand, Da Nang is heading into the National Day holiday with a positive tourism outlook.
The expected increase in visitor arrivals also offers a significant boost to the city’s hospitality, accommodation, transportation and service sectors during one of Vietnam’s major annual travel periods.
