Da Nang, Laos’ Sekong Province strengthen humanitarian cooperation
DNO - The Da Nang Red Cross Society held a working session about humanitarian work on Thursday with a delegation from the Red Cross Society of Laos’ Sekong Province.
The Lao delegation was led by Ms. Sisanga Keodouangdy, Vice President of the Sekong Provincial Administration Committee.

During the meeting, the two sides shared practical experience, successful models and effective solutions to improve the implementation of humanitarian activities.
These efforts are expected to further deepen the friendly and cooperative ties between the Red Cross societies of the two localities.
Chairman of the Da Nang Red Cross Society Le Tan Minh briefed his Lao guests on the performance of the organization and its chapters at grassroots level.
He informed that following administrative restructuring, the city has established Red Cross chapters in 74 out of 94 communes and wards.
There are a total of 28,129 members and 8,000 volunteers registered in its management database system, along with 395 Red Cross teams, groups and clubs.
These teams and clubs focus on voluntary blood donation, disaster response, first aid, humanitarian relief, public awareness campaigns and other social activities.
The Da Nang Red Cross Society has effectively implemented all seven of its key areas of work, including emergency relief and humanitarian assistance; healthcare; first aid; voluntary blood donation, tissue, organ and body donation; tracing missing relatives separated by war, natural disasters or catastrophes; promoting humanitarian values; and disaster prevention and response.
Regarding cooperation with Sekong Province, during the 2021 - 2025 period, Da Nang organizations provided free eye examinations and surgeries for 4,774 residents, donated 860 gift packages, 200 water filtration devices and 20 solar-powered lamps, with total support valued at VND2.34 billion.
On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Sisanga Keodouangdy hoped that the meeting would further deepen the friendship and cooperation between the Red Cross societies of the two localities, as well as the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
