Da Nang, China’s Yunnan seek to deepen practical and effective cooperation
DNO - Da Nang consistently attaches great importance to cooperative relations with Chinese localities, particularly Yunnan Province and Kunming City.
The statement was made by Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, during his reception on Wednesday for Mr. Liu Hongjian, Deputy Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Kunming Municipal Party Committee.
Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Deputy Secretary Nguyen Khac Toan informed that Da Nang and Kunming established friendly relations in 2015.
In April 2025, the Da Nang Party Committee and the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee signed a cooperation agreement, providing an additional foundation for promoting exchanges, and enhancing mutual understanding between the two localities.

Based on their respective potential and strengths, Da Nang proposed a number of key areas of cooperation.
The focus should be on strengthening delegation exchanges among agencies and organizations; stepping up cooperation in tourism, trade, aviation and healthcare; and training and developing officials and human resources in digital transformation, digital economy, green economy and logistics.
Mr. Toan voiced his hope that the visit would provide fresh momentum for deepening the friendly cooperation between Da Nang and Yunnan Province, particularly Kunming City.

For his part, Mr. Liu Hongjian expressed his delight at the positive and increasingly substantive relations between Yunnan and Da Nang in recent years.
He added that the two sides have organized numerous exchange activities as well as strengthened connections among government agencies, businesses and organizations.
Mr. Liu Hongjian suggested that the two sides take advantage of the 2026 - 2027 Vietnam - China National Tourism Year to boost cultural exchanges and tourism development.
At the same time, efforts should be taken to foster connectivity programs, destination promotion and tourist exchanges, he noted.
Regarding the economy and trade, Mr. Liu Hongjian invited Da Nang and the city's business community to attend the China-South Asia Expo in Kunming. The purpose is to create additional opportunities for business connections, trade promotion and expanded cooperation between enterprises from the two sides.
The two sides will also continue to promote exchanges and cooperation in education, healthcare and other fields within the framework of the friendship city relationship between Da Nang and Kunming.
