Central Vietnam’s first plant protection product factory in Da Nang
DNO - OAU Organic Agriculture Joint Stock Company has inaugurated a factory producing plant protection products and botanical-based bioproducts at the Phu My Industrial Cluster in Tay Ho Commune, Da Nang, marking a new step in the development of sustainable farming.
The facility is Vietnam’s first biological products manufacturing plant and the first plant protection products manufacturing facility in the Central Vietnam and Central Highlands regions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, along with representatives from the city’s relevant departments and local authorities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the OAU representative said the company had spent nearly 20 years researching ways to extract biological compounds from natural materials, including chili peppers, Coscinium fenestratum and other locally sourced medicinal plants.
The research has resulted in two new-generation plant protection products, OAU01-6.3EW and OAU02-81.7EC.
According to the company, the products are organic-based and designed to be safe for users, require no pre-harvest interval, provide effective pest and disease control, and offer an affordable option for farmers. They can also be stored for extended periods and manufactured on an industrial scale.
The plant’s first phase represents an investment of US$1 million and covers more than 5,000 square metres. Equipped with modern production lines, the facility is designed to manufacture next-generation plant protection products in line with the principles of sustainable agriculture.
Once fully operational, the plant is expected to produce between 500,000 and 1 million products annually, serving the domestic market while targeting exports to countries with advanced agricultural sectors.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman Tran Nam Hung praised the company’s long-term investment in scientific research, saying the development of high-quality biological products could contribute to the transition toward greener and more organic agriculture in Da Nang.
He urged OAU to accelerate production and expand access to its products so that farmers can soon benefit from biological solutions in cultivation.
The Vice Chairman also called on municipal departments and agencies to promptly address obstacles facing the plant and support its early operation. He asked authorities to act as a bridge connecting the company with cooperatives and farmers, helping bring biological agricultural products into practical use.
Da Nang also supports OAU’s ambition to develop into a science and technology enterprise, with the goal of contributing to a safer, greener and more sustainable agricultural sector.
