Da Nang, Pyeongtaek advance seasonal worker partnership
DNO - The Da Nang Department of Home Affairs had a working session on Friday with a delegation from Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, to discuss plans for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on seasonal labor, thereby creating new overseas job opportunities for local residents.

Representatives from the authorities of Tam Ky, Ban Thach, Quang Phu, and Huong Tra also attended the event.
During the meeting, both sides discussed preparations for signing a MoU on seasonal employment, together with its accompanying annex, between the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs and the Pyeongtaek government. The signing is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2026.
The two sides also exchanged detailed plans for recruiting seasonal workers from Tam Ky, Ban Thach, Quang Phu and Huong Tra to work in the agricultural sector in Pyeongtaek.
Representing the visiting delegation, Mr. Choi Jang Min, Director General of the Planning, Port and Economy Bureau of Pyeongtaek, said that once the MoU is signed, both sides will promptly implement its provisions to facilitate the early deployment of seasonal workers.
He expressed a desire to expedite the signing of the MOU between the two cities as soon as possible.
He added that the partnership builds on the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Pyeongtaek, which originated from a local-level friendship agreement established in February 2022 between the former Tam Ky City and Pyeongtaek, before being officially upgraded to a city-to-city partnership in April 2025.
To ensure effective implementation, Deputy Director Nguyen Qui Quy proposed that the South Korean side work closely with Da Nang in worker recruitment and pre-departure training.

Providing an overview of the city's labor force, the Department of Home Affairs informed that Da Nang currently has more than 1.7 million people aged 15 and above in its workforce.
More than 12,000 local workers are employed under contract in nearly 20 countries and territories. Since 2021, more than 3,000 workers from Da Nang have travelled to South Korea under seasonal employment programs.
Da Nang has been implementing seasonal worker cooperation agreements with several other South Korean localities, including Seongju, Yeongyang, and Bonghwa counties in Gyeongsangbuk Province, as well as Hamyang County in Gyeongsangnam Province.
