Da Nang, Yongin strengthen friendship and investment cooperation
DNO - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, hosted a reception on Thursday for a delegation of officials from Yongin Special City, South Korea.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh expressed his pleasure at welcoming Mayor of Yongin Special City Lee Sang il, Chairwoman of Yongin Special City Council Chang Jung Soon, and their delegation to Da Nang.
Chairman Vinh briefed his guests on the city’s socio-economic situation during the first seven months of 2026.
Notably, Da Nang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was estimated to grow by 9.52% year-on-year. State budget revenue exceeded VND 51.653 trillion, representing 77.8% of the annual target and rising 88.4% compared with the same period last year.
The city welcomed more than 12.1 million visitors, up 24.8% year-on-year, including over 6 million international arrivals, an increase of 28.1%, with South Korea remaining Da Nang’s largest international tourist market.
He also informed that the city has been prioritizing the development of key sectors, including seaports and aviation linked with logistics; high technology and startups; information technology, electronics and telecommunications associated with the digital economy; high-tech agriculture and fisheries; as well as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), gene technology and stem cell technology.
At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh introduced the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang as the political foundation of the local administration.
He also highlighted the unit's core mission of strengthening the great national solidarity bloc, promoting democracy, and representing and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the people.
He voiced his hope that Da Nang and Yongin would exchange experience on mechanisms that encourage public participation in local socio-economic development, particularly community self-governance models in South Korea.
For his part, Mayor Lee Sang-il thanked Da Nang’s leaders for their warm welcome and said he was impressed by the city’s rapid development.
He affirmed that Yongin would continue supporting the Yongin Community Digital Library project and the Korea International Lotus Village project in Quang Phu Ward.
The mayor also expressed Yongin’s desire to further strengthen bilateral friendship through expanded exchange activities and promote investment in Da Nang’s priority development sectors.
