The monument features a harmonious combination of the sansuyu (yellow cornelian cherry flowers), the symbol of Gurye County, and the Millettia nigrescens flowers (known locally as ‘than mat’), the symbol of Son Tra Ward.
Located in front of the headquarters of the Son Tra Ward People’s Committee, the monument represents the friendship, close ties, and mutual trust that the two localities have cultivated over the years.
Chairman of the Son Tra Ward People’s Committee Dinh Vui highlighted that, building on the Vietnam -South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the cooperative relationship between Son Tra Ward and Gurye County has been continuously strengthened through delegation visits, cooperation in culture and tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
The monument not only enhances the ward’s urban landscape but also serves as a symbol of friendship, mutual trust, and the shared aspiration for long-term cooperation between the two localities.
It is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration in culture, tourism, education, environmental protection, digital transformation, and youth exchanges in the time to come.
Earlier, during a working visit to Gurye County in April 2026, a delegation of Son Tra Ward officials attended the inauguration ceremony of the similar Son Tra - Gurye friendship monument in the South Korean locality.
