Da Nang, Tanzania boost cooperation in digital transformation and innovation

DNO - Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, on Wednesday, hosted a working session with a delegation from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Tanzania, led by its Minister Hon. Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki.

Welcoming the delegation, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi briefed them on Da Nang’s advantages, development potential and strategic directions for the years ahead.

She noted that Da Nang climbed 130 places to rank 766th among the world’s top 1,000 startup ecosystems and was recognized by StartupBlink as Vietnam’s fastest-growing startup ecosystem in 2025.

According to Mrs. Thi, Tanzania has made remarkable progress in recent years in digital transformation, broadband infrastructure development, and e-government initiatives to realize its national development vision.

She added these priorities closely aligned with Da Nang's development strategy, providing a solid foundation for both sides to exchange experience, and share effective models for digital government and software park development, and innovation ecosystem promotion.

Da Nang was ready to strengthen cooperation, facilitate expert exchanges and share experience in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, smart city development and digital infrastructure, the female leader emphasized.

She also voiced her hope that following the signing of cooperation agreements, both sides would organize trade and investment promotion missions, enhance business connectivity, and expand bilateral investment opportunities.

For her part, Minister Hon. Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki highly appreciated Da Nang’s development strategy in innovation, digital transformation, smart cities, high technology, the international financial center and the free trade zone.

She also expressed her admiration for the city's vision in semiconductor development, artificial intelligence (AI), logistics and infrastructure.

Minister Kairuki proposed several key areas of cooperation between the two sides. In particular, Tanzania suggested that Da Nang establish friendship and sister-city relations with Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to foster collaboration in tourism, high technology and exchanges between local governments.

Additionally, the two sides could strengthen cooperation among government agencies, political organizations and relevant departments.

A notable proposal was the establishment of scholarship and human resource exchange programs between Da Nang and Tanzania.

Under the proposal, annual training and student exchange programs would be organized in engineering, computer science, data science, semiconductor design, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other high-tech fields.

At the same time, the two sides also agreed to promote cooperation between universities and research institutes through faculty exchanges, joint curriculum development and collaborative research projects.

Minister Kairuki also invited Da Nang enterprises to invest in Tanzania's high-tech parks, software parks, semiconductor, AI, fintech, logistics and smart city projects.

She affirmed that Tanzania is willing to serve as a gateway for Da Nang businesses seeking to expand investment and access African markets.
