Da Nang International Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs Festival 2026 launched
DNO - The Da Nang International Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs Festival 2026 officially opened at the APEC Sculpture Park on Saturday under the theme “Ngoc Linh Ginseng - The Essence of Global Medicinal Herbs”.
Lasting until August 3, the event aims to honor the special value of Ngoc Linh ginseng, promote the potential and strengths of Vietnam’s medicinal herb sector, and foster connections in science, investment, trade, tourism and international cooperation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu said the first edition of the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival was held in Nam Tra My (former Quang Nam Province) in 2017 under the theme “The Legend of Ngoc Linh”.
The event marked the beginning of a journey to bring the precious ginseng plant, local specialty products and the cultural identity of the highlands closer to residents, visitors and the market.
After nearly a decade of annual organization, the festival has gradually become a gathering place for ginseng growers, scientists, businesses, investors and those passionate about Vietnamese medicinal herbs.
The year 2026 marks a new stage of development as the festival connects the Ngoc Linh ginseng-growing space with the urban center of Da Nang.
Beyond promoting a valuable local product, the event is designed to create a comprehensive platform for cooperation in science, technology, trade, investment, tourism and healthcare.
The city leader reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing the preservation of genetic resources, creating favorable conditions for research and investment in deep processing, and developing medicinal herbs in association with eco-tourism and wellness services.
He took the opportunity to call on scientists, businesses and international partners to engage in long-term and responsible cooperation to elevate the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand.
The city expressed confidence that the festival would offer memorable experiences of Da Nang where the sea and the great forest converge, rich in identity and open to the world while spreading pride in Ngoc Linh ginseng.
The Da Nang International Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs Festival 2026 runs from August 1 to 3.
In addition to the opening ceremony, the festival features a wide range of diverse activities, including the Ceremony of Worshipping the Ginseng God and Donating Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings; the “Ngoc Linh Ginseng Honor Day”; “Ngoc Linh Ginseng Day - Vietnamese Ginseng”; an international scientific conference on Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs; and the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Golf Tournament.
Over 35-year-old Ngoc Linh ginseng root auctioned for VND725 million
As part of this year’s festival, a Ngoc Linh ginseng auction was held on the evening of August 1.
The auction was one of the highlight activities of the festival’s Ngoc Linh Ginseng Honor Day.
A more than 35-year-old Ngoc Linh ginseng root was successfully auctioned for VND725 million. The winning bidder was Mr. Phan Thanh Thien from the Truong Sinh Group based in Gia Lai Province.
The ginseng root, produced by the Quang Nam Medicinal Herb Cultivation and Processing JSC, weighed about 0.9 kg and had previously won first prize in the category for ginseng older than 10 years at the 2026 Beautiful Ngoc Linh Ginseng Competition.
Also at the auction, many customers acquired Ngoc Linh ginseng roots that are decades old. These products were highly valued by experts for their scientific, aesthetic, commercial, and conservation value.
According to the festival’s organizing committee, all proceeds from the auction will be used for social welfare programs in the mountainous areas of Da Nang.
