Da Nang student wins bronze medal at MOS World Championship
DNO - A Da Nang student won a bronze medal at the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship 2026 recently held in Anaheim, California (the USA).
Nguyen Dinh Bao, a student from the Da Nang-based Le Quy Don Senior High School for the Gifted, received a warm welcome from supporters at Da Nang International Airport on Friday.
The welcome ceremony was held by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training in coordination with IIG Vietnam Education Organization.
To become one of the six contestants representing Vietnam at the world finals, Bao outperformed nearly 1,500 competitors nationwide.
Bao is also the first student from Da Nang to compete at the MOS World Championship since the contest was introduced in Vietnam 16 years ago.
This year’s world finals gathered 135 contestants, all national champions from 36 countries and territories. Nguyen Dinh Bao earned the world bronze medal in the Microsoft PowerPoint 365 Apps category.
Mr. Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, said that in his first participation in the competition, Bao’s bronze medal represented a highly commendable milestone for himself, his family, the school, and the city’s education sector. The achievement also contributed to the overall success of the Vietnamese team on the international stage.
Bao’s result at the MOS World Championship 2026 further affirmed the quality of the school’s computer science education as well as the effectiveness of Da Nang’s digital skills training programs implemented in recent years, Mr. Thuy added.
Launched in 2002, the MOS World Championship is an annual international competition organized by Certiport (theUSA) for students aged 13 to 22.
Its aim is to honor the world’s most outstanding talents in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
In Vietnam, the competition has been held since 2010 and jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and IIG Vietnam.
In this year's competition, the Vietnamese MOS team achieved one gold and two bronze medals, and secured two places in the Top 10 worldwide.
