Da Nang strengthens cooperation with Chinese and South Korean partners

During his reception for Consul General of China in the city Dong Biyou who paid a farewell visit upon completing her tenure, Secretary Quang acknowledged her contributions in promoting cooperation between Da Nang and Chinese localities in various aspects.
He informed that Da Nang is currently home to 144 Chinese-invested projects worth US$820 million in total. However, he said the current level of investment has yet to fully reflect the potential and strong bilateral relationship.
He, therefore, hoped that Mrs. Dong Biyou would continue serving as a bridge to encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Da Nang, especially in manufacturing, hi-tech, finance, tourism and high-quality services.
He also reaffirmed the city's commitment to expanding cooperation with Chinese localities, contributing to deeper, more substantive and effective Vietnam - China relations.
For her part, Mrs. Dong Biyou thanked Da Nang’s leaders for their active support throughout her tenure.
She also affirmed that, regardless of her future position, she would continue supporting China - Vietnam friendship and Da Nang’s development.
She expressed her hope that Da Nang would further foster cooperation in trade, investment, culture, tourism, science and technology, and high-tech industries with Chinese localities.
She called for greater support in implementing bilateral cooperation programs, enhancing local-level connectivity and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
In addition, she urged the early resolution of several outstanding issues to facilitate the expansion of direct air routes, helping boost tourism and exchanges between the two countries.

Also on the same day, Secretary Quang warmly received Mr. Han Jungil, the newly-appointed Consul General of South Korea in Da Nang who paid a courtesy visit upon the start of his term.
The city leader expressed his belief that Mr. Han Jungil's tenure would reinforce cooperation between Da Nang and South Korean localities, partners and businesses.
Highlighting the strong bilateral relationship in the past, Mr. Quang noted that Da Nang welcomed 2.1 million South Korean visitors in 2025, accounting for nearly half of all South Korean arrivals to Vietnam.
Da Nang has attracted 345 South Korean-invested projects with total investment of US$1.3 billion, with focus on healthcare, education, technology, component manufacturing, and automobile assembly. The city’s South Korean community is among the largest in Vietnam.
The city Party chief expressed his desire for the new Consul General to continue his efforts to attract South Korean investment in strategic sectors, including shipbuilding, automotive components, vehicle assembly, urban transport, infrastructure, semiconductors, electronics and high technology.
He reaffirmed Da Nang’s commitment to providing the best possible conditions for foreign businesses, including those from South Korea, to operate successfully in the city.
Mr. Quang also took the opportunity to call for enhanced cooperation with South Korea in developing an international financial center, a free trade zone, logistics, the green and digital economies, clean energy and climate change adaptation.
Also, focus should be on promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy, he emphasized.
In reply, Mr. Han Jungil expressed his honor to begin his diplomatic mission in Da Nang, the economic hub of central Vietnam.
He praised the city’s development potential as well as the strong interest shown by its leaders, residents and especially young people toward South Korea.
He hoped that Da Nang will serve as an important bridge in further expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
