New bridge strengthens Da Nang's southeastern connectivity
DNO - A new bridge spanning the Co Co River has officially opened to traffic.
The new bridge helps create a vital transport link that is expected to ease congestion, unlock new urban development opportunities and reinforce Da Nang's long-term vision of becoming a modern, well-connected coastal metropolis.
Built at a total investment of more than VND128 billion, the Dong No 2 Bridge measures 128.7 meters in length and 14.5 meters in width, featuring three spans designed to accommodate motor vehicle traffic.
Developed by Sun Group, the Dong No 2 Bridge connects Dong No 1 Bridge, passes through Dong No Islet and links directly with Chuong Duong Street across the Co Co River in Ngu Hanh Son Ward.
The new crossing provides an additional route from southern districts into Da Nang's city center, helping reduce traffic pressure on existing roads and bridges while improving mobility, trade and regional connectivity.
Following Da Nang's administrative expansion, it is now the 12th bridge spanning the Co Co River.
Beyond its transport function, the bridge also introduces a distinctive architectural feature to the riverside landscape. Its twin cantilever-style pylons, combined with a modern lighting system, are expected to become a new visual landmark along the Co Co River.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi described the bridge as an important component of the city's strategic infrastructure network.
She said the project would help expand urban space in southeastern Da Nang, support socio-economic growth and improve residents' quality of life.
She also highlighted the project as an example of successful public-private cooperation in mobilizing social investment for infrastructure, contributing to the city's efforts to create a modern urban landscape while attracting further investment.
Completed in less than eight months, the project overcame technical challenges associated with river construction and a demanding schedule.
Hundreds of engineers and workers maintained round-the-clock operations while meeting strict safety, quality inspection and load-testing requirements.
City authorities have called for the efficient operation of the bridge and the accelerated development of surrounding transport links and urban areas.
Together, these projects are expected to maximize the bridge's value, while supporting Da Nang's multi-center urban development strategy and creating new opportunities for investment and sustainable growth.
