Foreign policy: significant innovations in thinking

Da Nang, an economic, cultural, and scientific-technological hub of Central Vietnam as well as a gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor (EWCC), possesses favourable conditions to become a regional and international connector.

The city's development orientations require more effective exploitation of external resources, international cooperation, integration quality, and opportunities from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In this context, foreign policy is not only an exchange or cooperation but also one of the most important driving forces for the city's development. An international cooperation program, an investment project, and promotion activities of trade, science and technology, or culture all contribute to expanding the city's development.

Da Nang, during the period 2021- 2025, established cooperative relationships with 60 localities in 24 countries, signed more than 120 international cooperation agreements, and welcomed over 3,000 international delegations to learn about the city's cooperation and investment opportunities.

These results not only contribute to enhancing the city's international standing but also create an important foundation for Da Nang to expand its development space in the new phase.

Paving the way for growth momentum

Over the years, the city has proactively implemented the policies of economic diplomacy and expanded cooperative relations with several countries/territories, international organizations, and major economic corporations.

Investment, trade, and tourism promotion activities have contributed to enhancing the city's position on the regional economic map, attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth.

However, the new development phase requires not only investment attraction but also high-quality resources that align with the city's sustainable development goals.

Da Nang now prioritizes attracting high-tech projects, innovation, semiconductor, artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology, modern logistics, green energy, and other high value-added sectors. These industries not only provide financial resources but also contribute to improving the quality of growth and promoting economic restructuring towards modernization.

In particular, an international financial center and a free trade zone have been established, opening up entirely new development opportunities for Da Nang. The above are concrete steps to turn its geographical advantages into development in the era of deep integration.

Therefore, foreign policy contributes to mobilizing investment capital and opens up opportunities to access knowledge, technology, and new development trends in the world. It is a particularly important resource for Da Nang achieving its goals of rapid and sustainable development in the coming decades.

An international brand for the city

Da Nang, one of Asia's most attractive destinations, boasts its friendly living environment, modern infrastructure, beautiful natural landscapes, and increasingly improved urban governance.

A series of international events, such as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival and cooperative forums on economic growth, tourism, and investment, have contributed to promoting Da Nang, a dynamic, creative, and integrated city.

Following the success of the Forum of Friendship and Cooperation Cities, Da Nang has established and maintained relationships with approximately 50 localities in 24 countries/territories in the world.

The increasingly extensive cooperation network contributes to strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, and tourism; creates important channels for attracting investment and trade; and introduces Da Nang, a dynamic, friendly, and deeply integrated city regionally and internationally.

In the coming time, Da Nang continues to leverage its advantages as a livable city and a hub of international tourism and service to build its own brand on the regional map. Along with economic development, the city will focus on promoting its cultural and historical values, people, and unique identity while accelerating the application of digital technology in external communication to enhance foreign policy.
