Delivering the opening speech at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang described the week as more than an investment promotion program, calling it a platform that connects policymakers, financial institutions, technology leaders, businesses and the international knowledge community.

Vietnam is currently entering a new stage of development that requires faster, more sustainable and self-reliant growth.

While traditional growth drivers remain important, it is a need to accelerate new engines of development, including science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, modern finance, capital markets, high-quality human resources and stronger policy implementation.

Against this backdrop, focus will be on creating new development spaces, piloting innovative policy mechanisms and cultivating new growth poles capable of generating nationwide momentum.

In particular, Da Nang is well positioned to take on this role thanks to its strategic location, long-standing reputation for dynamism, steadily improving infrastructure, increasingly skilled workforce and expanding international connectivity.

With plans to develop an International Financial Centre (IFC), a Free Trade Zone (FTZ), and strengthen logistics, high-tech industries, digital finance, green finance and innovation, the city has a unique opportunity to accelerate its transformation into a new growth engine for Vietnam.

Achieving this ambition will require more than vision. The city must strengthen governance capacity, develop effective operating mechanisms and attract high-quality investment, advanced technologies, skilled professionals and long-term strategic partners.

The Da Nang Business, Finance and Technology Week 2026’s flagship High-Level Policy Dialogue, themed “New Growth – Innovation – Global City," would produce practical outcomes, including policy recommendations, investment partnerships and development models that can be implemented in practice.

The Deputy Prime Minister also called on ministries and central agencies to continue supporting Da Nang in implementing special policy mechanisms while addressing regulatory, planning, infrastructure, investment, financial and workforce challenges.

For emerging sectors such as international financial centres, free trade zones, digital finance, green finance, fintech, regulatory sandboxes and data governance, he emphasized the need for a flexible regulatory approach that encourages innovation while ensuring transparency, stability and risk management.

Businesses, investors, experts and international organizations must continue sharing experience, proposing new initiatives and partnering with both Vietnam, and Da Nang in particular, during their development journey.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the Vietnamese government’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, stable and business-friendly investment environment while protecting investors’ legitimate rights and encouraging new business models, emerging technologies and sustainable development initiatives.

Before the opening ceremony, delegates toured an exhibition showcasing products and solutions from technology and financial enterprises.

The week will also include site visits to key development projects, exhibitions showcasing Da Nang’s investment environment and financial and technology products, specialised international seminars, business networking and innovation activities, startup events, as well as cultural and tourism experiences across the city.

Through the event, Da Nang aims to bring together policymakers, experts and businesses from Vietnam and abroad to exchange global development insights, share best practices in policy, legal frameworks, regulatory sandboxes, digital finance and innovation, while expanding opportunities for investment and international cooperation.

The week is also expected to strengthen partnerships with strategic stakeholders, foster a more dynamic innovation ecosystem, accelerate investment promotion and further position Da Nang as an emerging regional destination for technology and finance.
