Tra Leng Cinnamon Fragrance Festival in 2026 officially opens
DNO - The first edition of the Tra Leng Cinnamon Fragrance Festival in 2026, themed “Tra Leng Cinnamon Fragrance - Faith and Aspiration for Further Development” officially opened at the Bang La residential area on Saturday.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Leng Commune Chau Minh Nghia affirmed that for the people of Tra Leng, cinnamon was far more than just a crop. It represented memories, an inheritance passed from parents to their children, faith in the future and a promise made today for generations to come.
The inaugural festival aimed to introduce the locality's renowned cinnamon products while promoting the image of a reviving land, a community preserving its cultural identity for development, and people who have risen strongly from past hardships and losses, he added.

According to Mr. Chau Minh Nghia, Tra Leng is entering a new stage of development with the goal of turning cinnamon into a symbol of green growth, community-based tourism, indigenous culture and sustainable livelihoods.
Every cinnamon garden will tell stories of the history, culture and people of Tra Leng, while every cinnamon-based product carries the pride of an entire region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang Le Tri Thanh emphasized that following the recent administrative merger, Da Nang has gained new development space in its southwestern mountainous region, where more than 70% of the natural area consists of forest land rich in forest ecosystems, biodiversity and indigenous knowledge.
In particular, Tra My cinnamon, which received geographical indication status in 2011 and embodies economic, cultural and ecological values, provided a solid foundation for development based on a green economy, circular economy and climate change adaptation.

Under the development plan, the Tra My cinnamon-growing area aims to reach approximately 10,000 hectares by 2030, including around 7,500 hectares of stable raw-material areas and 2,500 hectares of newly planted forests.
At present, the total cinnamon-growing area stands at about 3,000 hectares, equivalent to 30% of the planned target.
Chairman Thanh noted that the development of Tra My cinnamon still faced several challenges, including fragmented cultivation areas, the risk of genetic crossbreeding, limited deep-processing capacity, weak value-chain linkages and inadequate infrastructure in mountainous areas.
In the new development phase, he said, cinnamon should be developed through the establishment of a “cinnamon economic space” with the cinnamon tree serving as the core connecting raw-material production, processing industries, handicrafts, ecotourism, community culture and forest protection.
Tra Leng is expected to play a pivotal role as the core area for preserving cinnamon genetic resources, a seedling and breeding center, an organic cinnamon production zone and a cultural and tourism hub centered on cinnamon.
The “Tra Leng Cinnamon Fragrance” Festival is expected to contribute to preserving and promoting traditional values, enhancing the Tra My cinnamon brand.
It also opens up opportunities for ecotourism and experiential tourism linked to cinnamon villages, nurseries and Crang Ma Waterfall, thereby creating additional livelihoods for local residents.

Following the opening ceremony, a special art program featuring performances rich in the cultural identity of the Ca Dong and Mo Nong ethnic groups kicked off a series of festival activities, helping to promote the image of the Tra Leng cinnamon region to visitors from within and beyond the city.
On the occasion, agencies, organizations and businesses across Da Nang presented gifts and financial support to students and disadvantaged residents in Tra Leng Commune.
Meanwhile, local authorities expressed their gratitude to sponsors and partners who contributed to the success of the festival.
