DNO - After a week of vibrant events, the 4th edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) in 2026 officially concluded on Saturday evening, honouring outstanding cinematic works from Vietnam and Asia.

Attending the closing ceremony were Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization Tran Thanh Lam.

The event also welcomed ambassadors, consuls general, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as numerous artists, actors, filmmakers and cinema experts.
In her closing remarks, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee for DANAFF IV Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that DANAFF IV was a significant cultural and cinematic event for the city.
This year's films, exchanges, discussions and seminars created an open and professional cinematic space. Accordingly, cinema was celebrated not only as an art form but also recognized as a creative industry, a cultural bridge and an effective means of promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, particularly Da Nang, to international friends.

She affirmed that through DANAFF, Da Nang continued to build its brand as a destination of events and a regional center for cultural exchange, thereby generating new momentum for the development of cultural industries.
The connections formed during the film festival will continue to be maintained and developed into collaborative projects, creative ideas, cinematic works, and new valuable initiatives in the future.

According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee, DANAFF IV was a lavish cinematic feast, featuring more than 100 selected films from 30 countries and territories for nearly 200 screenings. The festival also hosted more than 1,000 delegates and guests, including nearly 300 international participants, and attracted tens of thousands of cinema lovers.

DANAFF IV expanded not only in scale but also in its development vision. In addition to showcasing outstanding Vietnamese and Asian films, the festival introduced a series of professional activities, including DANAFF Talents, the newly launched Script Lab, acting workshops for emerging talents and Master Classes.
Notably, the inaugural DANAFF Industry Days was held this year, marking an important step toward expanding the Vietnamese and Asian film markets to the global stage.
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan expressed her belief that a film festival should no longer be merely a venue for screenings and awards but also a platform for discovering talent, fostering creativity, connecting resources and creating development opportunities for the film industry. And that is precisely the direction that DANAFF has chosen to pursue.
"More than just a tourist destination, Da Nang has become an ideal launchpad and a center for gathering and spreading major cultural and artistic values” she underscored.
She also voiced her hope that DANAFF will become a year-round cinematic platform, a meeting place for filmmakers, a space for new ideas and a bridge connecting Vietnam with Asia and Asia with the world.

At the closing ceremony, the organizing committee presented awards in the Vietnamese Film Competition and the Asian Film Competition categories. The Special Jury Prize recognized a film distinguished by its artistic achievement or creative excellence, while the Best Film Award was presented to the most accomplished and outstanding work overall.
