DNO - The contemporary art program “GOm Show - The Sound of Ceramic” will make its debut in Da Nang with two performances scheduled for July 8 and 9 at the Trung Vuong Theater.

The program is organized by the Dan Do Art Troupe in collaboration with the Trung Vuong Theater.

The highlight of the show is a collection of one-of-a-kind musical instruments crafted from familiar ceramic household items such as jars, pots and earthenware cookware. Photo courtesy of the organizing committee.

Created by artists from the Dan Do Art Troupe, GOm Show is inspired by ceramics and the indigenous sounds of Vietnam.

The program is designed as a multi-sensory experiential journey, combining music, performing arts and visual arts to tell the story of Vietnamese memories, culture and people.

Without narration throughout the performance, the show’s eight chapters are connected through a continuous flow of sound and emotion.

Its aim is to guide audiences to explore diverse cultural landscapes ranging from the rhythms of everyday labor and community festivals to moments of reflection and a return to cultural roots.

A highlight of the program is its collection of unique musical instruments made from familiar ceramic objects such as jars and clay pots, creating soundscapes that are both rustic and evocative.

In addition, cultural elements from various ethnic communities, including the H'Mong, Tay, Nung, Lo Lo, Ede and Ha Nhi peoples, are transformed into a contemporary artistic language, contributing to the show's distinctive identity.

In addition to the musical performances, audiences will also have the opportunity to experience a visual art space featuring installations made from bamboo, wood and ceramics, alongside a collection of paintings on Do paper.

The purpose is to further expand the narrative surrounding daily life, traditional crafts and Vietnam's ceramic heritage.

According to the organizers, GOm Show is the result of nearly 15 years of field research, instrument making and artistic creation by the Dan Do Art Troupe.

Recently, the project’s artists have participated in a special art program celebrating the state visit to Vietnam by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and the First Lady. They have also collaborated with Vietnamese-German artist Vinh Khuat.

The two performances in Da Nang will take place just ahead of the grand finale of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026.

The aim is to add to the city’s cultural and artistic products for residents and visitors during the peak summer tourism season.

Ticket prices range from VND400,000 to VND1.2 million, depending on seat location.
