25 lion, dragon, and unicorn dance troupes nationwide compete in Da Nang

DNO - The first edition of the Hoa Cuong - Da Nang Lion-Dragon-Unicorn Dance Festival in 2026 officially kicked off on Tuesday.

Taking place from June 30 to July 4, this year’s festival brings together 25 long-established lion, dragon, and unicorn dance troupes nationwide, such as Phuong Te Duong, Chung Huy Duong, Nhon Nghia Duong, Hung Dung Duong, Tam Hoa Duong, Ngoc Phuc, Tuan Nghia, Bach Ho, and Nam Vuong.

Throughout the festival, residents and tourists have the opportunity to enjoy top-notch artistic performances and many unique and attractive acts.

In addition to the competitions, the festival features a range of community-oriented and meaningful activities, including the “Filial Piety Above All Virtues - Gratitude to Parents” program, food and beverage spaces, OCOP product showcases, folk games and cultural-tourism experience areas.

Together, these activities create a festive atmosphere that is both traditional and modern, while remaining welcoming and appealing.

According to the organizing committee, the festival is not only a cultural and sporting event but also a reaffirmation that culture serves as the spiritual foundation of society and an intrinsic driving force for sustainable development.

In the years ahead, Hoa Cuong Ward will gradually develop the Lion, Dragon, and Unicorn Dance Festival into an annual cultural event.

The purpose is to create a unique tourism product and an attractive and colorful summer destination for both domestic and international tourists.
